Arundhati Roy is an Indian author and essayist who won the 1997 Booker Prize for her debut novel The God of Small Things. Alongside her fiction, she is a prominent political activist whose nonfiction tackles nationalism, capitalism and human rights. Her 2025 memoir Mother Mary Comes to Me won the 2026 National Book Critics Circle Award in the autobiography category.
