Lahore High Court conditionally suspends damages order in Zafar defamation case pending Shafi's appeal
In early May 2026 the Lahore High Court conditionally suspended the Rs5 million damages order that a sessions court had directed Meesha Shafi to pay Ali Zafar in his defamation suit, according to Nukta and Voicepk. The court required Shafi to deposit part of the amount and furnish a surety bond while her appeal against the March 2026 judgment is heard, and it left in place a restraint on repeating her 2018 allegations. The underlying harassment complaint remains pending before Pakistan's Supreme Court.
