Alexander Ovechkin is a Russian ice hockey left wing who has captained the Washington Capitals since 2010. In April 2025 he passed Wayne Gretzky to become the NHL's all-time regular-season goals leader, and he later became the first player to reach 900 career goals. A three-time Hart Trophy winner, he led Washington to its first Stanley Cup in 2018 and was named playoff MVP.
