Ahlam Mosteghanemi is an Algerian novelist and poet widely regarded as one of the most-read authors writing in Arabic. Her 1993 debut novel Memory in the Flesh became a bestseller across the Arab world and won the Naguib Mahfouz Medal for Literature, and she was the first Algerian woman to publish poetry and fiction in Arabic. Based in Beirut, she remains a celebrated cultural figure honored by UNESCO and the Sharjah International Book Fair.
