Tebboune signs strategic partnership with Germany on Berlin state visit
On a July 16-17, 2026 official visit to Berlin, President Tebboune met German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Chancellor Friedrich Merz and agreed a strategic partnership agenda. Al Jazeera reported the two countries signed around 30 agreements spanning energy, green hydrogen, pharmaceuticals and manufacturing, with Merz calling Algeria an important contributor to Europe's energy security as the continent seeks alternatives to Russian gas.
